FOCUS Center for Autism is
a licensed, small, intensive, needs-based clinical program specializing in the
treatment of children and adolescents (ages 5-18) who are on the Autism Spectrum,
have anxiety disorders, experience processing and/or social learning
difficulties, and who are otherwise, as we like to say, “creatively
wired and socially challenged.”
We are a year round program open daily from 8:30am-6pm Monday through Friday
during the school year,
and from 9am-4pm during our six-week summer program.

What we do…
|
 | We are a licensed Extended Day Treatment
Program and learning center in the Greater Hartford area |
|
 | We work with school systems to help
children whose social and emotional needs are interfering with their
ability to function in a traditional classroom setting |
|
 | Our programs are designed to meet
individual needs, incorporating personal learning styles while at the
same time teaching critical life skills and coping strategies,
promoting study skills, self-motivation and self-esteem |
|
 | We address the obstacles that impact
everyday life and we design our programs to foster each child’s
ability
to live a happy and well-socialized life |
|
 | We use a treatment modality called "Milieu
Therapy" to accomplish this mission |
|
 | Milieu Therapy is a planned treatment
environment |
|
 | Academic support is woven into the daily
milieu routine |
|
 | The milieu is constantly supporting and
guiding the children |
|
 | The milieu takes into consideration the
perspective of the child as well as the perspective of the milieu at
large |
