FOCUS Center for Autism is a licensed, small, intensive, needs-based clinical program specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents (ages 5-18) who are on the Autism Spectrum, have anxiety disorders, experience processing and/or social learning difficulties, and who are otherwise, as we like to say, “creatively wired and socially challenged.”

We are a year round program open daily from 8:30am-6pm Monday through Friday during the school year,
and from 9am-4pm during our six-week summer program.

Our program offers the following services:

bulletAcademic Tutoring
bulletIndividual Therapy
bulletFlexible Scheduling
bulletMentoring Programs
bulletMedication Monitoring
bulletSensory Integration
bulletStructured Milieu Therapy
bullet24/7 support offered to parents
bulletGroup Therapy
bulletCollaboration/consultation with
schools and other professionals
bulletFamily Therapy

What we do…

bulletWe are a licensed Extended Day Treatment Program and learning center in the Greater Hartford area
bulletWe work with school systems to help children whose social and emotional needs are interfering with their
ability to function in a traditional classroom setting
bulletOur programs are designed to meet individual needs, incorporating personal learning styles while at the
same time teaching critical life skills and coping strategies, promoting study skills, self-motivation and self-esteem
bulletWe address the obstacles that impact everyday life and we design our programs to foster each child’s ability
to live a happy and well-socialized life
bulletWe use a treatment modality called "Milieu Therapy" to accomplish this mission
bulletMilieu Therapy is a planned treatment environment
bulletAcademic support is woven into the daily milieu routine
bulletThe milieu is constantly supporting and guiding the children
bulletThe milieu takes into consideration the perspective of the child as well as the perspective of the milieu at large
